The Set That Broke the Internet
When Pokémon TCG: Prismatic Evolutions launched in early 2025, it caused scenes not seen since Celebrations. Shelves were empty within minutes. Booster boxes were flipping for three times retail. The Eevee and Eeveelutions-themed set had tapped into something primal in the collector community — nostalgia, scarcity, and stunning artwork all colliding at once.
Now, in 2026, the dust has settled. Reprints have hit the market. Secondary prices have adjusted. So the question is: is Prismatic Evolutions still worth buying?
The answer depends on what you're buying it for.
What Made Prismatic Evolutions Special?
Prismatic Evolutions was built around one of Pokémon's most beloved evolutionary lines — Eevee and its eight Eeveelutions. The set featured:
- Illustration Rares (IR): Full-art cards with breathtaking painted-style artwork for each Eeveelution
- Special Illustration Rares (SIR): The chase cards — alternate art treatments with immersive, scene-based illustrations
- Hyper Rares: Gold-bordered versions of key cards
- The Eevee Squad: A complete set of Eevee and all eight Eeveelutions in multiple art treatments
The artwork quality was genuinely exceptional. Cards like the Sylveon ex Special Illustration Rare and the Umbreon ex IR became instant collector icons. These aren't just game pieces — they're art objects.
The Reprint Situation
Pokémon Company International responded to the initial scarcity with reprint waves throughout 2025 and into 2026. This is standard practice for high-demand sets — the same happened with Celebrations, 151, and Paradox Rift.
The reprints have brought booster box prices closer to retail, which is good news for collectors who missed the initial launch. You can now buy Prismatic Evolutions product without paying a significant premium over RRP — a far cry from the 3x markup of early 2025.
Current Secondary Market Values (2026)
Here's where things get interesting for collectors:
- Sylveon ex SIR: Still commanding £80–£120 raw, significantly more graded
- Umbreon ex IR: £40–£60 raw, PSA 10s pushing £200+
- Espeon ex SIR: £50–£80 raw
- Eevee IR (full set): Collector demand remains strong
- Booster Box: Approaching retail — good value for the pull rates
The key insight: the singles market has held up remarkably well. While booster box prices have normalised, the top-end chase cards have retained significant value. This is a sign of genuine collector demand rather than speculative bubble behaviour.
Should You Crack Packs or Buy Singles?
This is the eternal question, and for Prismatic Evolutions the answer is nuanced:
Crack packs if: You enjoy the opening experience, you want a chance at multiple hits, or you're building a complete set. The pull rates are reasonable and the set is enjoyable to open.
Buy singles if: You want specific cards for your collection or a deck. The secondary market is well-stocked and prices are fair. Targeting the Sylveon ex SIR or Umbreon ex IR directly is more cost-efficient than chasing them through packs.
Hold sealed product if: You're thinking long-term. Sealed Prismatic Evolutions boxes from the first print run — identifiable by specific set codes — may appreciate over time as the set ages out of print.
Is It Worth Buying in 2026? Our Verdict
For collectors: Yes. The artwork is timeless, the Eeveelution theme has enduring appeal, and the top singles have held their value. This is a set worth having in your collection.
For players: Situational. Check whether the cards you need are still competitively relevant in your format before investing.
For investors: Cautiously yes. Sealed product at or near retail is a reasonable long-term hold. The Eeveelution theme and the quality of the artwork suggest this set will be remembered fondly — similar to how Celebrations is viewed today.
For gift buyers: Absolutely. Prismatic Evolutions is one of the most visually impressive Pokémon sets ever printed. A booster pack or tin makes an excellent gift for any Pokémon fan.
