Terms of service
Last updated: June 2026
By using the ThunderBolt Cards website or placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms & Conditions in full. Please read them carefully before purchasing.
Note: ThunderBolt Cards is a UK-registered business. These terms are governed by English law. Additional rights may apply depending on your country of residence — see Section 14 for country-specific information.
Important: These terms are strict in certain areas — particularly regarding sealed products, deposits, and customer conduct. This protects the integrity of our stock and the fairness of our service to all customers.
1. About Us
ThunderBolt Cards is a UK-based trading card game retailer shipping worldwide. Contact: Hello@thunderboltcards.co.uk
2. Pricing & Currency
Prices on our website may be displayed in GBP (£) or in your local currency depending on your location and browser settings. Where local currency is shown, this is an estimated conversion based on current exchange rates and is provided for convenience only. All transactions are processed and settled in GBP. The final amount charged in your local currency will be determined by your bank or payment provider at the time of payment. ThunderBolt Cards is not responsible for any currency conversion fees or exchange rate differences.
Prices may change at any time without notice. Payment is required in full at the time of ordering unless a deposit arrangement has been agreed (see Section 7).
3. Orders & Our Right to Cancel
Placing an order constitutes an offer to purchase. We reserve the right to accept, decline, cancel, or withdraw any order at any time, including for stock errors, pricing errors, suspected fraud, or breach of these terms. An order confirmation email does not constitute acceptance — acceptance occurs upon dispatch. If we cancel your order, you will receive a full refund.
4. Sealed Products & Mystery Items — No Returns, No Refunds
We do not accept returns or offer refunds on sealed products or mystery items. This includes booster packs, booster boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes, tins, collection boxes, bundle products, and any mystery items.
This policy exists because reseal fraud and card swapping are well-documented in the trading card hobby. Once sealed stock leaves our possession, we cannot verify its contents have not been tampered with.
EU customers — important notice: Under EU Directive 2011/83/EU and the Consumer Rights Directive, consumers normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal on distance purchases. However, this right does not apply to sealed goods not suitable for return due to health protection or hygiene reasons, or goods unsealed after delivery. We apply this exemption to sealed trading card products on the basis that once opened, the contents cannot be verified or restored. By purchasing a sealed product, EU customers explicitly acknowledge and accept that the right of withdrawal does not apply.
UK customers: Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, the same sealed goods exemption applies. By purchasing sealed products, you acknowledge this exemption.
This does not affect your statutory rights where a product is proven to be faulty or not as described prior to opening.
5. Print Quality & Manufacturing Defects
ThunderBolt Cards has no control over the manufacturing or printing process of any trading card product. We accept no responsibility for misprints, off-centre cards, miscuts, or any other manufacturing defects found within sealed or mystery products. These must be raised directly with the relevant publisher or manufacturer. Manufacturing defects do not entitle a customer to a refund or replacement from ThunderBolt Cards on sealed or mystery items.
6. Mystery Items — Value Guarantee
All mystery items sold by ThunderBolt Cards are guaranteed to contain products with a combined RRP value equal to or greater than the price paid. Contents are selected at our discretion and may vary. Mystery items are non-returnable and non-refundable as stated in Section 4.
7. Deposits & Pre-Orders
Where a deposit is offered on a new release or pre-order, the following terms apply without exception:
- All deposits are non-refundable if you choose to withdraw from your order for any reason.
- If payment of the outstanding balance fails when we attempt collection, your order will be cancelled, your deposit will be forfeited, and your allocation will be offered to the next customer in the queue.
- If a pre-order is cancelled by us due to circumstances outside our control (publisher delays, distributor failures, product unavailability), you will receive a full refund of your deposit.
- Release dates are estimates only. We are not responsible for delays caused by publishers or distributors.
- Deposits secure your place in the queue only and do not guarantee a specific unit or variant beyond what is stated at purchase.
EU & UK customers: The non-refundable deposit policy is enforceable where you have expressly agreed to these terms at the time of payment. Your statutory right to a refund for services not delivered remains protected.
8. Allocated Stock & Order Limits
Some products are subject to allocation — where distributor stock is split between multiple retailers. In these circumstances:
- We reserve the right to impose a per-person order limit on any allocated product at any time, including after orders have been placed
- We may reduce order quantities to ensure fair distribution
- Any cancelled quantity due to allocation limits will be refunded in full
Allocation decisions are entirely outside our control. We will communicate changes as quickly as possible and will not be held liable for shortfalls caused by distributor decisions.
9. Stock & Availability
Stock availability, release dates, and restock dates are subject to change at any time due to factors outside our control. We will communicate changes promptly but cannot be held responsible for third-party delays or cancellations.
10. Singles & Non-Sealed Products
Returns on singles and non-sealed products are accepted within 14 days of receipt, provided the item is in the same condition as sent and the return is pre-authorised by us. Contact us before returning anything — unauthorised returns will not be processed.
If you believe a card has been misgraded, contact us within 48 hours of receipt with photographic evidence.
11. Disputes & Chargebacks
By placing an order with ThunderBolt Cards, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions in full at the time of purchase.
Before initiating any payment dispute or chargeback with your bank or card provider, you must contact us directly at Hello@thunderboltcards.co.uk and allow us a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue. We aim to respond to all queries within 2 business days.
We take fraudulent chargebacks extremely seriously. A chargeback is considered fraudulent where a customer disputes a transaction for a product that was delivered as described and where our published policies — including the sealed product no-return policy — were clearly presented and agreed to at checkout.
In the event of a chargeback that we consider to be fraudulent or in bad faith, we reserve the right to:
- Submit full evidence of the transaction, these Terms & Conditions, and delivery confirmation to the card network
- Permanently ban the customer from purchasing with ThunderBolt Cards
- Report the matter to Action Fraud (UK) or the relevant authority in the customer's jurisdiction
Note: We cannot and do not waive your legal right to raise a dispute with your bank or card provider. This clause is intended to encourage direct resolution first and to deter bad-faith claims, not to restrict any rights granted to you by law.
12. Customer Conduct
We operate a zero-tolerance policy on abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or disrespectful behaviour directed at ThunderBolt Cards or our team via any channel. Customers who engage in such behaviour will have their orders cancelled, deposits forfeited, and will be permanently banned. We reserve the right to report threatening communications to the relevant authorities.
13. Intellectual Property
All website content is the property of ThunderBolt Cards or its licensors. Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Dragon Ball Super, and Disney Lorcana are trademarks of their respective owners. ThunderBolt Cards is an independent retailer not affiliated with or endorsed by any of these brands.
14. Country-Specific Rights & Information

European Union EU customers benefit from rights under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU). You have a 14-day right of withdrawal on most distance purchases, subject to the sealed goods exemption in Section 4. EU customers may access the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Canada, Australia & Rest of World International customers purchase subject to these terms and English law. You are responsible for any import duties, taxes, or customs charges in your country. Local consumer protection laws may grant additional rights that cannot be excluded — where this is the case, those rights apply in addition to these terms.
15. Import Duties & Customs
International orders may be subject to import duties, taxes, and customs fees levied by the destination country. These are the sole responsibility of the customer. ThunderBolt Cards will not falsify customs declarations or mark orders as gifts to avoid duties.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ThunderBolt Cards shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss. Our total liability shall not exceed the value of the order in question. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
17. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Subject to any mandatory local consumer rights that cannot be excluded, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
18. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. The current version will always be published on this page with an updated date.
